The Purpose of Nutrition while living in a Pandemic

With the whole world being on lockdown due to the outbreak of COVID-19, people have potentially lost their motivation to train in the gym and have been falling out of their progress with nutrition. Although nutrition is not a way to help avoid the virus, it is important that we continue to maintain a healthy nutritional lifestyle while living in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. We want to make sure that we are following safe protocols to protect our surroundings and most importantly, ourselves. It's also important that within this time, we continue to follow up with how to balance out our eating habits and find ways to get ourself motivated to do physical activities outdoors safely and enjoy healthy foods.

How has the Pandemic affected our eating habits?

Since the pandemic happened in March of 2020, our whole nation was forced to shut down and leave essential businesses open with safety protocols. According to the "Effects of COVID-19 Home Confinement" article, people have been consuming more unhealthy foods, experienced binge-eating, increased their snack intake, and increased their main meals everyday (Ammar et. al 2020).

World Health Organization: Five Keys to Safer Food

Although nutrition is not a cure for COVID-19, the World Health Organization has planned out a way for people to get an idea on how to handle valuable foods at home and help people's nutrition keep accountable for their overall health.
